Passport Specialist
Consular Affairs (CA) is the public face of the Department of State for millions of people around the world. CA is responsible for the welfare and protection of U.S. citizens abroad, for the issuance of passports and other travel documentation to citizens and nationals, and for the protection of U.S. border security and the facilitation of legitimate travel to the United States.
Provides expert instruction, advice and support to management, acceptance agents, passport adjudicators, and other public contact employees on passport fraud statutes, regulations, precedents, and Departmental anti-fraud policy.
Participates in management level program planning, coordination, and implementation, collaborating with passport specialists and the National Fraud Program Office on the development of fraud prevention policies and programs.
Updates, coordinates, and implements comprehensive region-wide passport fraud prevention program initiatives to protect the integrity of the U.S. passport.
Assigns, reviews, and revises the work of passport specialists and other Agency/Center personnel, providing both administrative and technical oversight to ensure conformance with established objectives and standards.
Leads and conducts reviews to detect systemic problems, recommends corrective actions, and coordinates proposed remedies with passport specialists and fraud program officers to develop and propose Directorate-wide consensus on solutions.
