Patient Account Representative
Summary
Handles patient billing, insurance claims, and account inquiries for a physical therapy provider, ensuring accurate payments and resolving discrepancies.
- Partner with patients to resolve billing, payment, and account-related concerns with professionalism and empathy.
- Investigate and reconcile patient account discrepancies to ensure accurate billing and timely resolution.
- Process patient payments, refunds, and account adjustments accurately and efficiently.
- Verify, review, and update patient insurance information to maintain accurate account records.
- Communicate with insurance providers to verify eligibility and benefits, obtain prior authorizations, and resolve coverage issues.
- Follow up on outstanding insurance claims, denials, and unpaid balances to maximize reimbursement.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date patient account documentation in accordance with organizational policies.
- Deliver exceptional customer service while assisting patients, providers, and insurance representatives with billing inquiries.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows, improve billing processes, and support timely reimbursement.
- Stay current on insurance regulations, payer policies, and medical billing and coding requirements to ensure compliance.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
- 1-2 years of experience in medical billing and collections
- Knowledge of medical billing and coding, insurance regulations, and healthcare reimbursement policies
- Experience verifying insurance benefits and obtaining prior authorizations
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Waystar, Japari and other computer programs
