Patient Care Technician

• Location: Chicago, IL
• Facility: Ascension Saint Joseph
• Department: Emergency Department
• Schedule: Day shift | Full-time | 11:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. | 3 x 12's | Rotating weekends and holidays

• Guide and position patients safely to promote their physical comfort and prevent injury.
• Support patients with daily personal care to maintain their dignity and overall well-being.
• Monitor physical, mental and emotional changes to ensure timely care interventions and accurate records.
• Maintain clean patient rooms and organized medical equipment to create a safe healing environment.

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Required Credential(s):
  • One or more of the following:
    • Emergency Medical Tech credentialed from the Illinois Board Of Division of Emergency Medical Services and Highway Safety obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Intermediate or Advanced also acceptable.
    • Practical/Vocational Nurse credentialed from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
    • Nurse Aide credentialed from the Illinois Department of Public Health obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Nursing student who has completed on semester of medical surgical nursing is also acceptable.
  • One or more of the following:
    • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
    • Instructor specializing in Basic Life Support obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. *Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Additional Preferences:

• 1 year of experience is preferred.
