Accurately captures charges and completes billing documentation for services provided. Assists with ongoing billing-related training and professional development of providers. Verifies insurance coverage and obtains authorizations for all provider visits and procedures. Negotiates single case agreements with non-contracted health plans to determine patient financial responsibilities. Provides education and information about governmental insurance exchanges and assists patients with benefit choices. Acts as a liaison between the billing service and providers to address billing-related concerns. Prepares and disseminates reports related to charge submission, delayed charges, and provider RVU validation. Participates in special projects to improve quality and efficiency in billing processes. Assists with onboarding, training, and professional development of Patient Financial Representatives. Reviews and codes physician and physician extenders' documentation for professional services. Serves as an informational resource to patients regarding insurance coverage and billing inquiries. Validates ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes to ensure accurate billing.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:• Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in English with patients, staff, and customers of varied backgrounds in a respectful, effective, and professional manner [Required]
• Strong interpersonal, organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in an environment with frequent interruptions [Required]
• Able to act in an autonomous, self-directed manner while maintaining the ability to collaborate with other professionals and non-professionals in situations of high complexity and high intensity [Required]
• Self-motivated, with the ability to multi-task and adapt to changing demands [Required]
• Mature judgement and the ability to handle confidential information within AdventHealth guidelines and applicable regulations [Required]
• Knowledge of clinical documentation, exam procedures and protocols [Required]
• Proficiency using personal computer, word processing and email system. Must have knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word [Required]
• Understanding of CPT codes and ICD 9/ICD 10 coding [Required]
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) [Preferred]
• Knowledge of medical terminology [Preferred]
Education:
• Associate [Preferred]
Field of Study:
• in Healthcare, Business or related field
Work Experience:
• 4+ experience in a complex healthcare setting with primary responsibility of providing full financial work-up and financial reimbursements [Required]
