About the Role

The Patient Navigator – Hereditary Cancer Testing plays a critical role in guiding patients through key stages of their genetic testing and diagnostic journey. Based in Chico, CA, this position provides patient education, care coordination, and limited phlebotomy support while working closely with a multidisciplinary clinical team to deliver a seamless, compassionate, and high-quality patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide education, guidance, and emotional support to high-risk patients undergoing hereditary cancer genetic testing.
  • Register patients and coordinate scheduling for follow-up visits and related services.
  • Establish trust and confidence with patients by clearly and compassionately explaining procedures and next steps.
  • Perform blood draws and specimen collection with accuracy and professionalism (approximately 5–10% of the role, with potential to expand based on operational needs).
  • Verify patient identity and accurately label specimens at the time of collection.
  • Maintain complete and accurate patient documentation and records in accordance with organizational policies and applicable privacy regulations.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming clinical environment.
  • Collaborate with physicians, clinical staff, and site leadership to complete daily operational and patient-care tasks efficiently.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned patients and demonstrate HALO’s commitment to precision medicine and early detection.
