Position Highlights!

-High visibility across two hospitals

Responsibilities\:

• Deliver ongoing patient safety education, both formal and informal, to hospital staff across all departments.

• Investigate patient safety risks through rounds, chart reviews, interviews, inspections, and other methods.

• Ensure compliance with the hospital’s Patient Safety Plan, objectives, and national patient safety goals.

• Monitor and implement regulatory requirements from federal and state agencies related to patient safety.

• Review safety occurrences with physicians, managers, and department heads, identify trends, and recommend actions.

• Maintain investigative, claim, and legal files with strict confidentiality; assist legal counsel during litigation.

• Communicate significant safety events and potential claims promptly through established reporting mechanisms.

• Contribute to hospital-wide performance improvement by gathering and analyzing data in collaboration with peers.

• Participate in the on-call rotation to remain informed of patient safety incidents as they occur.

• Act as a role model to promote and sustain a strong culture of patient safety throughout the organization.

Schedule\: This position will primarily work Monday-Friday, 7AM-3\:30PM. There may be some required on-call needed. You will need to be able to travel to the UPMC Washington facility about 2-3 per week.
