Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Patient Service Representative, you will provide comprehensive clerical/office support within a physician clinic, encompassing reception, telephone, medical records, charge entry, referrals, and information retrieval.
Every day you will facilitate, communicate, and collaborate with the healthcare team and patient/family to identify and meet their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, ensuring quality patient care and operational efficiency.
To be successful in this role, you will possess strong organizational and clerical skills, meticulous attention to detail in medical record management and charge entry, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to patient-centered care and our organizational mission/core values.
- Greet patients/caregivers and provide whatever assistance needed in a manner that reflects the high quality service with the understanding that the provision of quality medical care requires active teamwork and professional conduct.
- Verify accuracy and update all demographic data in the electronic health record, and identify communication and financial barriers; contribute to the patient plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team if barriers are identified.
- Accurately gather and process all necessary information and data to complete all requirements in medical records, referral, billing, and any medical treatment purposes.
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments and revise appointments as needed.
- Thorough and confidential maintenance of patient charts and records including importing and communication of scanned documents. Obtain and process appropriate payments at time of service.
Job Requirements
Required
- High School Diploma or GED
- Previous work experience with basic office and computer skills, filing, telephone answering, reception, and basic knowledge of computer software
Preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurance payers
