About the Opportunity

We are seeking a customer-focused and dependable Patient Service Specialist to join a growing healthcare team in Wells, Maine. This individual will serve as the first point of contact for patients and play a vital role in delivering a positive patient experience while supporting front-office operations.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Registration & Front Desk Support

  • Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner
  • Register patients and verify demographic information
  • Prepare patient intake paperwork before appointments
  • Check patients in and out of appointments
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments

Insurance & Financial Responsibilities

  • Verify insurance eligibility and coverage
  • Obtain insurance authorizations and approvals as needed
  • Collect co-pays and patient payments
  • Educate patients regarding financial responsibility and payment expectations
  • Process payments accurately and maintain records

Customer Service

  • Provide exceptional service to patients and family members
  • Answer incoming phone calls and assist with patient inquiries
  • Communicate effectively with insurance companies, attorney offices, referral sources, and healthcare providers
  • Resolve issues and escalate concerns when appropriate

Administrative Support

  • Maintain accurate patient records
  • Support revenue cycle operations through accurate registration and insurance verification
  • Assist with office operations and administrative tasks
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming office environment

Required Qualifications

  • Previous customer service experience
  • Professional work experience in a customer-facing environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable handling sensitive conversations with patients
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to navigate multiple systems
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting
