Description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Payment Operations Analyst based in Spain.

This is an opportunity to help strengthen payment performance across a large-scale international digital marketplace. You will join a newly established Payment Operations team focused on building end-to-end visibility into the checkout and payment funnel. Working across more than 17 payment service providers, you will identify performance issues, investigate declines, and uncover opportunities to improve authorization rates and conversion. The role combines hands-on payment analysis, root-cause investigation, reporting, and cross-functional collaboration. You will work closely with Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Fraud teams to turn complex findings into actionable improvements. This is a remote, full-time position in a fast-moving international environment where initiative, experimentation, and independent problem-solving are highly valued.

Accountabilities:

  • Take ownership of checkout funnel health by identifying emerging issues, surfacing defects, and developing alerts and insights before they become business-critical.

  • Lead root-cause investigations into payment funnel drop-offs and declining authorization rates, distinguishing technical issues from user behavior patterns.

  • Analyze authorization rates, decline codes, and performance across multiple payment service providers (PSPs) to identify bottlenecks and prioritize improvements.

  • Investigate payment performance issues, including processor outages and disruptions across different stages of the checkout journey.

  • Develop and maintain reporting, dashboards, and alerts that provide reliable visibility into payment funnel performance.

  • Support regular reporting to cross-functional teams, translating payment data and customer behavior insights into clear recommendations.

  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Fraud teams to diagnose issues, coordinate investigations, and drive measurable improvements in authorization rates and conversion.

  • Communicate technical findings and business impact clearly to stakeholders without specialist payments knowledge.

  • Help establish and improve the team's diagnostic processes, contributing practical solutions and developing into a trusted point of contact for payment funnel health.

  • Requirements:

    • Hands-on experience working with payment funnels in a complex, multi-provider environment.

    • Strong understanding of payment concepts and processes, including interchange, decline codes, foreign exchange (FX), tokenization, 3D Secure (3DS), and fraud fundamentals.

    • Demonstrated experience conducting root-cause analysis of payment funnel drop-offs, authorization declines, and performance patterns, with the ability to distinguish technical causes from behavioral factors.

    • Strong SQL skills and the ability to independently investigate payment data and identify meaningful trends.

    • Ability to interpret complex technical findings and customer behavior insights and communicate them clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

    • Practical understanding of payment service provider performance and the factors affecting authorization and conversion.

    • Familiarity with self-service business intelligence (BI) or dashboarding tools is an advantage.

    • Experience conducting comparative analysis across multiple payment service providers is beneficial.

    • Ability to work effectively in ambiguous, fast-changing, or high-growth environments without relying on fully established processes.

    • A proactive, independent approach to problem-solving, with the initiative to investigate issues, test ideas, and develop solutions.

    • Strong communication and collaboration skills, particularly when working with cross-functional teams.

    • Good English communication skills are required; professional fluency is preferred.

    • Benefits:

      • Annual salary range of €40,000–€60,000, depending on experience and role scope.

      • Opportunity to participate in an Employee Stock Options program.

      • Performance-based and referral bonus opportunities.

      • Additional paid leave and a personal learning budget through various bonus programs.

      • Paid volunteering opportunities.

      • Flexible work location, with options to work remotely, from an office, or while traveling.

      • Opportunities to contribute to the growth and development of an international digital product.

      • Professional development supported by structured feedback and promotion processes.

      • Opportunities for accelerated personal and professional growth within an international team.
