Role: The part-time payroll and benefits administrator is responsible for providing support in the payroll process and procedures, ensuring that all employees are paid in accordance with Lammle’s payroll cycle and in accordance with employment standards. This includes reconciling time sheets, validating and entering data into the payroll system, preparing T4’s, adjustments, reconciling and payroll remittances.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the payroll process for 400+ employees by reviewing timesheets, entering payroll data, and verifying hours worked, vacation pay, holiday pay, and payroll deductions.
  • Respond to routine payroll inquiries from employees and managers, providing timely and professional support.
  • Investigate and help resolve payroll discrepancies by gathering information and escalating complex issues when required.
  • Process payroll adjustments, including corrections, vacation payouts, retroactive payments, and other earnings under the guidance of the Payroll team.
  • Assist with the preparation and processing of Records of Employment (ROEs) and other payroll-related documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee payroll records while ensuring confidentiality of employee information.
  • Support payroll reporting, reconciliations, audits, and year-end payroll activities.
  • Assist with payroll system updates, testing, and other payroll-related projects as required.
  • Ensure payroll processes are completed in accordance with company policies, procedures, and applicable legislative requirements.
  • Other duties assigned by manager and as required by business needs.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn payroll processes and legislation.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with a customer-service mindset.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • High level of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive employee information.

Qualifications

  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation in progress or completed is considered an asset.
  • 1-2 years of payroll, accounting, administrative, or related experience.
  • Post-secondary education in Payroll, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is considered an asset.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now (WFN) or another payroll system is considered an asset.
  • Basic understanding of payroll principles, payroll legislation, and payroll best practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

Other Position Details

  • This is a part-time support position with hours reflecting 5 days at 4 hours per day or 3 days at 8 hours per day
