PAYROLL OFFICER

We are seeking a highly organised, detail-oriented, and experienced Payroll Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accurate, timely, and confidential processing of employee payroll while maintaining compliance with company policies and applicable statutory requirements.

The successful candidate should have strong numerical and analytical skills, a good understanding of payroll processes, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process monthly payroll accurately and within the approved timelines.
  • Prepare and validate payroll inputs, including salaries, allowances, overtime, deductions, bonuses, leave, new hires, promotions, and exits.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee payroll records.
  • Calculate and process statutory deductions, including PAYE, Pension, NHF, and other applicable deductions.
  • Prepare payroll reports and reconciliations for management review.
  • Review payroll reports to identify and resolve discrepancies before payroll is finalised.
  • Work closely with the HR and Finance teams to ensure employee information and payroll inputs are accurate.
  • Respond to employee payroll-related queries and resolve issues promptly and professionally.
  • Ensure payroll processes comply with relevant labour, tax, and statutory requirements.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of employee compensation and payroll information.
  • Support payroll audits and provide relevant documentation when required.
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, accuracy, and efficiency.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • 3–4 years of relevant experience in payroll administration or a similar role.
  • Previous experience in the FMCG industry or another fast-paced organisation is highly desirable.
  • Good knowledge of Nigerian payroll processes and statutory deductions.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience using payroll software/systems.
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and reconciliation skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with a high level of integrity.
  • Strong communication, organisation, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict payroll deadlines.
