About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Test Analyst to join a payroll transformation project in Melbourne on an initial 6-month contract. The successful candidate will have strong payroll knowledge and hands-on experience across payroll testing, requirements, data validation and reconciliation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop test scenarios, test scripts and test data aligned with payroll business requirements.
  • Coordinate and execute system, integration, UAT and parallel/shadow payroll testing.
  • Validate payroll calculations, processes, awards, legislation and business rules.
  • Analyse test outcomes, identify and document defects, and work with vendors and technical teams to resolve issues.
  • Perform payroll data validation, reconciliation and investigation of discrepancies.
  • Work closely with payroll stakeholders, SMEs, Business Analysts and project teams.
  • Support requirements traceability and ensure testing coverage across payroll processes.
  • Document testing results, defects, issues and recommendations.
  • Assist with cutover planning, business readiness and transition activities.
  • Provide regular testing updates, risks and recommendations to the Payroll Transformation Manager.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Payroll Test Analyst, Payroll Analyst, Payroll Specialist or Business Analyst within payroll transformation or system implementation projects.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end payroll processes, legislation, compliance requirements and payroll controls.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting payroll testing, particularly parallel or shadow payroll testing.
  • Strong experience developing test plans, test scenarios, test scripts and test data.
  • Experience with payroll platforms such as ADP, SAP, Workday, Oracle, Chris21 or similar.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Experience investigating payroll discrepancies and performing complex reconciliations.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills highly regarded.
  • Australian Citizenship is mandatory.

This is a 6-month contract based in Melbourne with an ASAP start.
