PBS - Business Support
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee an effective, risk‑controlled and regulatory‑compliant operating environment for the Private Banking (“PB”) function based in HK, acting as a key partner to PB management and Market Group Heads.
- Drive and sponsor branch‑wide initiatives and PB‑related strategic projects – represent PB as senior subject matter expert, provide direction on impact assessment, processes and procedures, staff readiness and training, and ensure effective change management.
- Act as central coordination and escalation point for complex issues, complaints, incidents, risks and compliance matters, ensuring timely resolution and clear communication to senior stakeholders.
- Lead data‑driven analysis and management reporting, including preparation of high‑quality presentation materials for senior management and tracking progress on key deliverables and strategic initiatives.
- Own and coordinate PB responses to audits and operational risk incidents; ensure robust remediation plans and appropriate PB representation in Risk and Compliance governance committees.
- Oversee onboarding and training frameworks for PB and client‑facing staff on systems, processes, policies and procedures, ensuring consistency, quality and alignment with regulatory and internal standards.
- In charge of selling suitability check processes in the front office; identify and drive opportunities for improvement and enhancement, and steer system and process changes where required.
- Lead and manage ad hoc projects/initiatives and other duties as assigned by the PB COO, ensuring effective project governance, stakeholder engagement and delivery to agreed timelines.
- Represent the front office in working groups and forums to promote and embed a strong risk culture and sound conduct across PB.
- Partner with Business Risk Management to continuously strengthen the effectiveness and efficiency of the First Line of Defense, including proactive identification of emerging risks.
- Drive client‑centric process enhancements that deliver better client experience, higher service standards and improved efficiency and productivity of frontline teams.
- Demonstrate exemplary conduct and role‑model the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct, setting clear expectations and standards for the wider team.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement, providing guidance and informal leadership to team members and contributing to talent development within PB COO Business Support.
Skills and experience
- Degree holder with 8–12 years of experience in a Private Banking or Wealth Management environment, including exposure to risk, control or COO/Business Management functions.
- Strong and broad understanding of banking processes, products and the associated regulatory requirements, with the ability to interpret and translate them into practical front‑office controls and processes.
- Proven ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; ability to structure complex topics and present clear recommendations to management.
- Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with data analytics tools is an advantage. (VBA/coding skills may be a plus but are not essential.)
- Highly self‑motivated, organised and resilient; able to operate under pressure, manage multiple priorities and deliver in a rapidly evolving context.
- Strategic and innovative mindset, able to challenge the status quo, identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency, and drive implementation through to completion.
