PCB Design Engineer
Summary
Designs and optimizes multilayer PCBs for high-speed satellite systems, focusing on component placement, impedance routing, and DFM compliance using Altium or similar ECAD tools.
At GalaxEye Space, we are pioneering the next generation of
Earth observation solutions with our cutting-edge satellite technology. As a
fast-growing space-tech startup, our mission is to revolutionize the way we
gather, process, and deliver geospatial intelligence. Join us to become a part
of an agile, high-impact team working at the forefront of space innovation.
PCB Design Engineer | 3+ years experience
Role & Responsibilities
Component Placement Optimization: Strategy-driven
placement of components considering signal flow, thermal dissipation,
mechanical constraints (keepouts, height restrictions), and ease of rework.
Multilayer Stackup Design: Configuring layer stackups
(typically 4 to 8+ layers), selecting dielectric materials, and determining
appropriate plane splits for power and ground returns.
Routing Implementation: Executing controlled
impedance routing for high-speed interfaces (e.g., USB 3.0, DDR3/4, PCIe,
Ethernet), differential pairs, and heavy-current power paths.
Constraint Management: Setting up and managing
advanced design rules (clearances, trace widths, length matching, differential
pair routing rules) within the ECAD environment.
DFM / DFA / DFT Compliance: Standardizing designs to
meet manufacturer capabilities. This includes checking for minimum trace/space,
aspect ratios, annular ring sizes, component spacing for pick-and-place
machines, and placing test points for ICT (In-Circuit Testing).
Footprint & Library Management: Creating,
validating, and maintaining standard-compliant (IPC-7351) schematic symbols and
PCB footprints, ensuring correct pad sizes, pin pitches, and 3D models.
Fabrication Output Generation: Generating and
verifying comprehensive manufacturing packages, including Gerber files (or
ODB++), Excellon drill files, Bill of Materials (BOM), Pick-and-Place data, and
assembly drawings.
Tools: Proficiency in at least one major ECAD suite
(Altium Designer, KiCad, Cadence Allegro, or Mentor Expedition).
Standards: Good working knowledge of IPC standards
(IPC-2221 for generic design, IPC-7351 for footprints, etc.).
Fabrication Knowledge: Understanding of PCB
manufacturing processes (HASL vs ENIG finishes, via plugging/tenting,
blind/buried vias).
