Role overview

We are seeking an experienced PCC Instrumentation Lead Engineer to lead and execute instrumentation related precommissioning and commissioning activities on a large-scale LNG facility. The role carries full responsibility for instrumentation systems readiness from mechanical completion through commissioning, startup support, and handover to operations.

This is a site based leadership role, suited to senior instrumentation commissioning professionals with strong EPC project experience.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead all instrumentation PCC activities in line with the commissioning philosophy and schedule
  • Provide technical and execution leadership to instrumentation system engineers and field teams
  • Ensure instrumentation systems are fully prepared for:
    • Precommissioning
    • Commissioning
    • Startup and initial operation
  • Coordinate and supervise key activities including:
    • Instrument installation verification and inspection
    • Loop checking and functional testing
    • Cause & effect testing
    • Instrument calibration and validation
    • Control valve testing and stroking
    • Analyzer commissioning
  • Verify mechanical completion (MC) and manage punch list clearance for instrumentation scope
  • Coordinate closely with electrical, process, operations, construction, HSE, and QA/QC teams
  • Review and approve instrumentation commissioning procedures, test packs, and dossiers
  • Support DCS, ESD, F&G, and PLC system testing in coordination with vendors and automation teams
  • Manage SIMOPS, PTW compliance, and safe execution of live system testing
  • Report on progress, constraints, and risks to the commissioning manager

Mandatory requirements (strict)

Education

Bachelor’s degree in instrumentation, control, electrical, or related engineering discipline

Experience
  • Minimum 10 years experience in oil & gas or LNG projects
  • Proven role as instrumentation lead during precommissioning and commissioning phases
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • Instrument loop checks
    • Control systems and safety systems commissioning
    • Large EPC project environments
    • Extensive site based LNG or gas processing facility experience
  • Candidates without direct instrumentation commissioning leadership experience will not be considered
Technical expertise
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Instrumentation commissioning workflows and system handover
    • DCS, ESD, F&G, PLC, and analyzer systems
    • Commissioning documentation, test packs, and system dossiers
  • Ability to interpret:
    • P&IDs and cause & effect charts
    • Instrument loop diagrams and hookups
    • Control system architecture drawings

  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary instrumentation teams
  • Strong coordination and interface management skills
  • Practical, hands-on problem solver
  • Clear verbal and written communication in English
  • Comfortable working in high pressure, multicultural site environments
