Pediatrician
Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Pediatrician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be committed to providing high-quality, comprehensive, and patient-centered care of infants, children, and adolescents up to age 18.
This role focuses on prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of a wide range of conditions while building strong, long-term relationships with patients and their families.
The Pediatrician will perform well-child exams, diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries, administer vaccinations, provide guidance on development, nutrition, safety, and maintain detailed, accurate patient records.
Essential Functions
An individual in this role must be able to perform the following functions with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Patient Care: Diagnose and treat acute and chronic conditions from infancy through adolescence.
- Preventive Medicine: Provide preventive care services, including regular checkups, well-child physical examinations, routine physical exams, developmental screenings, and vaccinations.
- Treatment Planning: Develop and implement care plans, prescribe medications, and order/interpret laboratory tests and imaging studies.
- Acute/Chronic Care Management: Diagnose and treat infections, injuries, and chronic conditions like asthma or diabetes.
- Vaccinations: Administer recommended immunizations according to established guidelines to prevent illness.
- Collaboration & Coordination: Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and care teams to coordinate patient care. Refer patients to specialists as needed and collaborate with nurses, medical assistants, and support staff to coordinate care. Collaborate with tribal health programs, public health nurses, and community outreach teams to address population health priorities.
- Educate: Offer culturally sensitive counseling on health, nutrition, safety, lifestyle, preventive care, developmental milestones, and disease management to patients, parents and caregivers. Participate in community health events, wellness fairs, and educational workshops.
- Documentation: Maintain timely and accurate patient medical records in compliance with HIPPA and Catawba Nation Health policies using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
- Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives and follow clinical guidelines.
