Summary/objective: A Peer Recovery Support Specialist is a person with lived experience who helps remove personal and environmental obstacles to recovery, links the newly recovering person to the recovering community, and serves as a navigator and mentor in the management of personal and family recovery. Meeting with recovering persons one on one to help them set and obtain personal goals.

- Helps to initiate and sustain an individual/family in their recovery from substance use and/or co-occurring disorders.
- Promotes recovery by identifying, solving and/or removing barriers and obstacles to recovery.
- Serves as a personal guide and mentor for people seeking recovery.
- Helps an individual identify and find the solution to their source of discomfort before making emotional decisions.
- Helps individuals find ways to stop using or reduce the harm associated with addictive behaviors.
- Identifies and cultivates a myriad of community wide services and support which is key to meeting the varying needs of those served.
- Maintains official records and documents, and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Establishes sound working relationships and cooperative arrangements with community groups and organizations.
- Connecting individuals to personal and community supports necessary to live independently.
- Assists individuals with obtaining recovery-oriented materials, attend recovery support meetings, and provide referrals as necessary.
- Serves as a role model in the general community and recovery community
- Maintain a caseload of 20 clients
- All other duties as assigned.
