About the Urgent Care Program
The Behavioral Health Urgent Care Clinic (BHUCC) is the first program of it's kind in the Kansas City area that provides the community immediate, same-day access to psychiatric medication for mental health and substance use needs. Through a multi-disciplinary approach, the BHUCC team provides care to clients every day of the week, including evenings, weekends and holidays to meet the client's and community's needs.
What You'll Do
- Greets and welcomes clients, guests, and visitors to the facility in a professional, respectful, and courteous manner.
- Checks clients in upon arrival and maintains accurate and timely documentation in accordance with program procedures.
- Engages with clients in a supportive and respectful manner, shares lived experience of resilience and recovery, and serves as a positive role model by demonstrating healthy coping strategies and successful recovery behaviors.
- Maintains cleanliness, organization, and overall presentation of the facility to promote a safe and welcoming environment for clients, guests, and staff.
- Develops and maintains positive working relationships with local community partners, including Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and law enforcement, and communicates with these partners as needed to support client and facility safety.
Requirements of the Position
- Availability to work a full-time schedule; all new hires are required to attend a one-week ReDiscover orientation as part of the onboarding process.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must have life experiences with a substance use disorder and/or mental illness and have received appropriate services.
- Must have successfully completed the Peer Specialist training through the Missouri Credentialing Board (MCB) and successfully passed the certification exam.
- Must also satisfy requirements for external community partners.
- Excellent customer service skills with a recovery focus.
- Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
- Intermediate computer skills in typing/keyboarding, Microsoft Word and Excel programs as well as the use of email.
Schedule Requirements
- Full-time position, consisting of three (3) 12-hour shifts each week, plus one (1) 8-hour shift every other week.
- Urgent Care operates seven (7) days per week and is open 24 hours a day; candidates must be available to work rotating weekends and holidays as needed.
