Prairie View is seeking a dedicated Peer Support Worker to join our team in Newton, KS. In this unique role, you will use your personal recovery story to help adult patients develop coping skills, build support networks, and advocate for their own treatment goals. Your work will directly empower individuals to live, work, and thrive independently within our community.
What You Will Do (Key Responsibilities)
1. Peer Support & Recovery Mentorship

Share Your Story Purposefully: Use your personal journey with mental health to demonstrate that recovery is possible. Help patients identify self-limiting beliefs, combat negative self-talk, and overcome fears.

Build Coping Skills: Guide patients in identifying personal triggers and building healthy response mechanisms. Help individuals create their own Wellness Recovery Action Plans (WRAP) and Person-Centered Plans.

Advocacy & Independence: Empower patients to take a proactive role in their treatment, helping them articulate goals and confidently discuss medication or care plans with their clinicians.

Group Facilitation: Create and lead engaging group activities that support and strengthen the recovery community.
2. Administrative & Clinical Excellence

Timely Documentation: Maintain accurate, electronic patient records and progress notes using our clinical system (schedules logged within 24 hours; progress notes completed within 72 hours).

Time Management: Keep a reliable daily schedule, log time accurately, and balance priorities based on patient and agency needs.

Productivity: Focus on goal-directed, meaningful patient interactions to meet a billable norm of 24 hours per week.

Confidentiality: Strictly uphold professional boundaries and patient confidentiality in all communications and workspace areas.
3. Professional Growth & Collaboration

Team Synergy: Actively participate in staff meetings, clinical/administrative supervision, and organizational Quality Assurance (QAPI) initiatives.

Continuous Learning: Expand your skills using the Relias Learning platform and attend continuing education workshops pertinent to mental health and recovery modalities.
