Position Summary
The Front of House Team Member (Cashier) is responsible for creating a welcoming guest experience by greeting guests, accurately entering and processing orders, handling payments, packaging takeout orders, and maintaining clean, organized guest-facing areas. This position supports Pei Wei Asian Kitchen standards for hospitality, speed, accuracy, cleanliness, and quality service while working collaboratively with team members and management.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Guest Service and Order Support
* Greet and welcome guests in a timely, friendly, and professional manner.
* Assist guests with menu questions, ordering options, spice levels, and basic product information.
* Accurately take and enter dine-in, takeout, phone, and online orders into the POS system.
* Confirm order details to help ensure accuracy and guest satisfaction.
* Package takeout orders according to company standards and ensure orders are complete before handoff.
Cash Handling and POS Operations
* Process guest transactions accurately using the POS system.
* Accept approved forms of payment, including cash, credit cards, and other company-authorized payment methods.
* Make correct change and follow company cash handling procedures.
* Maintain accuracy when processing discounts, promotions, refunds, or adjustments as authorized.
* Protect company assets by following loss prevention, register, and payment processing procedures.
Dining Area and Front of House Cleanliness
* Maintain cleanliness and organization of the front counter, beverage station, dining area, restrooms, and other assigned guest areas.
* Clean, sanitize, and stock work areas throughout the shift.
* Monitor guest-facing areas and address cleanliness or supply needs promptly.
* Follow opening, shift, and closing procedures as assigned.
* Dispose of trash and maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming restaurant environment.
Teamwork and Restaurant Operations
* Work cooperatively with back-of-house and front-of-house team members to support smooth restaurant operations.
* Communicate guest needs, order issues, supply needs, or operational concerns to management promptly.
* Follow company policies, dress code, safety guidelines, and operational procedures.
* Support other restaurant duties as assigned based on business needs.
* Maintain a professional, respectful, and guest-focused attitude during all interactions.
Qualifications
* High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred. * Previous cashier, customer service, restaurant, or POS experience preferred. * Ability to speak clearly and listen attentively to guests, employees, and management. * Basic math skills and ability to process payments accurately. * Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure in a fast-paced restaurant environment. * Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Commitment to integrity, honesty, accountability, quality service, and guest satisfaction.
