As People Lead, APAC, you will be responsible for delivering an exceptional employee experience across Singapore and Japan, with the opportunity to support our continued expansion into additional APAC markets.
You'll be part of our global People team, operating within one global People strategy and operating model while delivering locally with the appropriate market expertise. Working closely with colleagues across the UK and US, you'll help deliver a consistent employee experience while balancing local business needs, employment legislation and cultural nuances.
This role combines operational excellence with strategic partnership. You'll own the day-to-day execution across the full employee lifecycle, including payroll, benefits, onboarding, employee relations, compliance and People operations, while serving as a trusted partner to the Managing Director, APAC, and the regional leadership team. You'll provide pragmatic advice and guidance on people matters, helping leaders make informed decisions while ensuring a positive employee experience.
Success in this role depends on building strong relationships across multiple time zones and collaborating effectively with colleagues around the world. Key Responsibilities
Business Partnering
- Partner with the APAC MD to safely scale talent footprint into new growth markets
- Assess talent needs and source EOR partners to legally hire personnel in new markets without local entities (e.g., Korea, China, Thailand, India).
People Operations
- Own end-to-end People Operations across APAC, managing the full employee lifecycle including onboarding, employee records, employee changes and offboarding.
- Deliver an exceptional employee experience through efficient, scalable and compliant People processes.
- Provide guidance and support to employees and managers on People policies, processes and employee matters.
- Partner with business leaders as a trusted advisor, providing both operational and strategic People support.
- Support recruitment, onboarding and retention initiatives in partnership with the Talent Acquisition team.
Compliance, Work Passes & Policy Administration
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation and regulatory requirements across Singapore and Japan, with particular expertise in Singapore employment law and MOM regulations.
- Maintain People policies, procedures and employee documentation in line with legal and organisational requirements.
- Manage Employment Pass and S Pass applications, renewals, cancellations and related record keeping.
- Serve as the primary contact for MOM-related matters, audits and compliance activities.
- Monitor legislative developments and ensure local practices remain compliant while aligning with global People policies.
Payroll, Total Rewards & Benefits
- Manage outsourced payroll providers to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing across the region.
- Support and coordinate annual compensation review processes across APAC in partnership with the global People team.
- Manage regional medical insurance plans, wellness programmes and vendor relationships to ensure competitive and compliant benefits.
- Ensure payroll, benefits and reward programmes deliver an excellent employee experience while meeting local requirements.
Employee Relations, Performance & Development
- Advise and coach managers on employee relations matters, performance concerns and the consistent application of People policies.
- Act as a trusted advisor on sensitive employee matters, maintaining professionalism, discretion and sound judgement.
- Partner with managers to support performance management processes, including annual review cycles and Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs).
- Contribute to learning and development initiatives that support employee growth and organisational capability.
Process Improvement & Stakeholder Management
- Drive continuous improvement of People processes, systems and ways of working to enhance efficiency and the employee experience.
- Partner with the global People team to implement and localise strategic People initiatives across APAC, bringing regional insight and expertise to global programmes while ensuring successful local adoption.
- Collaborate effectively across UK, US and APAC time zones, ensuring strong communication, alignment and consistent execution.
- Build trusted relationships with employees, regional leaders, global People colleagues and external partners.
- Help shape how we support our people across APAC by establishing scalable processes, sharing regional insight and supporting expansion into new markets.
About You
- Significant HR experience across the full employee lifecycle within a fast-paced, international environment.
- Strong knowledge of Singapore employment legislation and MOM requirements, with hands-on experience managing Employment Passes and S Passes. Experience supporting Japan or other APAC markets would be advantageous.
- Proven experience managing core People Operations, including payroll, benefits, compliance and employee relations.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence, coach and build credibility with leaders at all levels.
- Comfortable balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution, with a genuine willingness to roll up your sleeves.
- Experience working within a global People function, collaborating across multiple regions and time zones to deliver a consistent employee experience.
- A track record of driving process improvements and implementing scalable People practices within a growing business.
- Exceptional organisational skills, attention to detail, integrity and discretion when handling confidential information.
- A proactive, collaborative and adaptable People professional who enjoys building, embraces change and is excited by the opportunity to help shape the future of how we support our people across APAC.
