Job Type: Full Time, permanent role. 35 hours per week.
Location: Office-based in Liphook, Hampshire with travel to our Birmingham office.
Rocksteady Music School is the UK’s largest rock and pop school. We teach fun and inclusive in-school band lessons to primary age children. Our mission is simple: to amplify children’s self-belief and remove barriers to music education. We’re currently in thousands of schools in the UK, teaching over 120K children every week, and recently launched in Australia – and we’re growing fast.
Our offices in Liphook and Birmingham are home to many of our central office teams. From there, we all play our part in supporting our band leaders to reach as many children as possible with their lessons. That’s what gets us out of bed in the morning!
We're now looking for a People Services Manager to join our People team in our Liphook office. This is an exciting role where you will lead Rocksteady’s new People Services function; the operational engine of the People team.
You will be both hands-on and able to look ahead as this role involves managing our two People Administrators day-to-day, supporting them with queries, checking quality of work and stepping in where needed. Reporting to the Head of People, you will also take ownership of moving routine work and administration to self-service and automation by looking at ways to improve our systems and processes, whilst maintaining our People first culture.
As a People Services Manager you will:
Manage a team of People Administrators
- Coach, mentor and develop a team of two People Administrators through regular one-to-ones and supportive conversations.
- Be the point of escalation for queries from the team and business, stepping in to support where needed.
- Own the quality, accuracy and efficiency of the team’s output, including monthly payroll data, HR documentation, and the upkeep of records in our HR system and SharePoint.
Manage People Systems and Administrative Processes
- Lead the day-to-day running and development of our People systems including IRIS Cascade (our HR system), our staff benefits platform and staff survey platform.
- Work with our Technology team to help ensure systems are integrated where possible, secure and compliant and support the team and wider business to work more efficiently.
- Make sure our system configuration, workflow design and permissions meet both operational needs and governance standards.
- Manage relationships and contracts with our system providers, ensuring value for money and continuous improvement.
- Identify opportunities to improve and simplify People processes through technology and automation.
- Keep up to date with HR technology trends and act as our go-to expert on People systems.
Data, Reporting and Compliance
- Lead the design and delivery of accurate, timely and meaningful People reporting and analysis that provides leaders with the information and insights they need to make informed decisions.
- Ensure mandatory reports, such as gender pay gap reporting are submitted accurately and on time.
- Keep the data in our systems accurate and up to date, ready for internal and external audits.
- Protect the security, integrity and compliance of People data in line with UK GDPR and information security requirements, working with the Compliance Manager and Technology team where relevant.
- Make sure automation and AI in People processes are used responsibly, in line with GDPR and data governance, and have clear human-escalation points.
As a People Services Manager you’ll need:
- Experience of leading and developing a team in People Operations, Shared Services or People Services, with accountability for systems, data, service delivery and performance.
- Strong HR systems expertise, including self-service, automation and workflow efficiencies.
- Solid working knowledge of HR administration and strong attention to detail, so you can answer the team’s questions and spot errors quickly.
- A track record of continuous improvement and process simplification within a People department.
- The ability to use data and insight to spot trends and problems, influence decisions and support leaders to make informed decisions for improved outcomes.
- Experience running and designing scalable, high-quality People administration services.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- To be confident managing both internal and external stakeholders across People, Finance, Technology and senior leadership.
Benefits
- 35 hour working week
- 28 days holiday plus bank holidays
- Long service awards including an additional 4 weeks’ pay after 5 years
- Free onsite parking
- Personal development opportunities
- Comprehensive benefits package including discounts on everyday purchases, free 24/7 GP service.
- Enhanced maternity and paternity pay.
- Celebratory staff away-days, Christmas parties and social events.
- Opportunities to work with the Rocksteady Foundation, reaching children and young people in charities and support groups across the UK.
