Performance Marketing Manager - Amazon US

Discussion

Description

ZAGG is a global leader in mobile accessories, driving innovation in device protection, power, and productivity through its ZAGG and mophie product lines. With operations in the US, Ireland and China, ZAGG’s products are available worldwide at leading retailers. Committed to sustainability, ZAGG is taking steps to reduce its carbon impact in manufacturing, packaging, materials, shipping, and recycling. Our mission is to protect and enhance your mobile lifestyle while making a positive impact on the planet.

As ZAGG’s Performance Marketing Manager, Amazon US, you will own an Amazon ad program end to end, make decisions on the math, and show your work.

This role owns Amazon advertising for mophie and ZAGG in the US: Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, Sponsored Display, and DSP. We are bringing advertising in house and no longer using an agency. This person takes over everything the agency ran, from campaign builds and daily bidding to DSP, Amazon Marketing Cloud, and reporting, and runs it better because they sit inside the business.

Ad spend is one of the largest costs in the channel, so every dollar has to earn its place. Allocation decisions are made on contribution margin, not ROAS alone. This person builds the click economics model by ASIN (cost per click, conversion, and margin per click) and uses it to decide where money goes and where it gets cut.

This is a hands-on role. You will be in the ad console and the bid tools every day, not managing someone else who is. Screen protection, cases, mophie, and Productivity each run on different math, and ROAS and TACOS ranges are set by category and growth posture with the Sales leaders.

We are investing to grow our marketplace business. Marketplaces are one of the biggest growth opportunities for mophie and ZAGG, and we are building a dedicated team to capture it: growing our Amazon business in the US, shifting more of it to 3P where the margins are stronger, launching across Europe, and building on Walmart Marketplace. We are also investing in software and tools that turn data into intelligence, giving the team clear visibility into margin, advertising, pricing, and the competition. Just as important, we are changing how we work. We are building a highly agile team that is focused on execution and continuous improvement: every metric has an owner, decisions are made quickly on the data, tests run constantly, and what works is scaled while what does not is stopped. This is a chance to help build that team and shape how it operates from the start.

What You Will Do

Agency Transition

  • Lead the move from the agency to in-house management with no loss of performance: account access, campaign history, bid rules, negative keyword lists, audiences, creative, and reporting.
  • Audit the inherited account structure in the first 90 days and rebuild what underperforms.
  • Document every process the agency ran so it is owned, repeatable, and improved in house.

Campaign Strategy and Structure

  • Own paid media strategy across Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands (including video), Sponsored Display, and DSP.
  • Design and maintain the account and campaign structure by brand, category, match type, and goal.
  • Build branded, conquest, generic, and retargeting campaigns as one system. Defend branded share before chasing generic share.
  • Build launch campaigns for every new product, with pre-set spend, traffic, and conversion targets.
  • Plan and run Prime Day, Prime Big Deal Days, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Apple launch windows.

Daily Campaign Management

  • Manage bids, budgets, and placement modifiers every day, using rules and automation where they work.
  • Run keyword research and harvesting: mine search term reports, promote winners, and add negatives.
  • Manage product targeting, category targeting, and competitor conquesting.
  • Pace budgets against the monthly plan and move money between campaigns as performance changes.
  • Monitor ad policy compliance and resolve rejected ads and creative quickly.

DSP and Amazon Marketing Cloud

  • Plan, build, and optimize DSP campaigns: audiences, line items, frequency, creative, and bidding.
  • Hold DSP accountable for incremental return, not reach.
  • Write and run Amazon Marketing Cloud queries for path to purchase, new-to-brand, overlap, and incrementality, working with Analytics.
  • Build custom audiences from AMC and first-party signals for DSP and Sponsored Display.

Creative

  • Brief and manage Sponsored Brands, video, and DSP creative with Content and Brand Marketing.
  • Diagnose and close the click-through rate gap on ZAGG: creative, placements, keywords, and campaign structure.
  • Run a steady creative and headline testing program and roll out winners.

Click Economics and Measurement

  • Build and maintain the ASIN-level click economics model by ad type.
  • Move budget to the ASINs and keywords that earn the most margin, and cut what does not.
  • Track share of voice on priority keywords and branded search.
  • Manage Amazon Attribution and the Brand Referral Bonus for traffic sent to Amazon from outside.
  • Report ad performance weekly: budget shifts, search term wins and losses, tests in flight, and decisions needed.

Tools and Budget

  • Set requirements for the ad technology stack and run it day to day. The Senior Director, Automation, owns tool selection, contracts, and administration.
  • Build the annual and monthly ad budget and forecast with the VP, Sales leaders, and Finance.
  • Reconcile ad spend and invoices with Finance every month.

Key Decisions You’ll Make

  • Ad budget allocation by brand, category, ASIN, and ad type.
  • Account and campaign structure, bids, keywords, and targeting.
  • ROAS and TACOS target ranges by category, set with the Sales leaders.
  • DSP investment level, audiences, and when to scale or cut.
  • Event and launch ad plans, and how much to invest in each.
  • Which tests to run, and which changes to roll out across the account.
  • Ad technology requirements, and which ad tasks to automate, with the Senior Director, Automation.
  • When to cut spend on an ASIN or campaign that does not earn its margin.

What You’ll Need to Be Successful

Experience

  • 5+ years of hands-on Amazon advertising experience, managing significant annual spend directly.
  • Agency-side or in-house experience running Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, Sponsored Display, and DSP day to day, including campaign builds, bidding, and keyword harvesting.
  • Hands-on experience with Amazon DSP and Amazon Marketing Cloud, including writing AMC queries.
  • Experience bringing advertising in house from an agency, or building an ad program from scratch, strongly preferred.
  • Track record of improving profit from advertising, not just ROAS.
  • Experience planning major retail events and product launches on Amazon.
  • Consumer electronics or mobile accessories experience preferred.

Skills & Capabilities

  • Amazon Ads console, bulk operations, and campaign structure at scale.
  • Bid management and reporting tools such as Pacvue, Perpetua, Skai, or similar.
  • Amazon DSP: audiences, line items, frequency, and creative.
  • Amazon Marketing Cloud (SQL), attribution, and incrementality measurement.
  • Click economics: CPC, conversion, and margin per click by ASIN.
  • Advanced Excel or SQL for analysis; financial fluency in contribution margin, TACOS, and ROAS.

The Intangibles

  • You would rather run the account yourself than manage someone who does.
  • You spend the company’s money like it is your own.
  • You do not take platform-reported numbers at face value.
  • You make the call to cut spend when the math says so.
