Summary
Lead and supervise laboratory analysts, controllers, and technicians in analytical testing activities, ensuring compliance with quality standards like ISO 13485 and cGMP, and overseeing laboratory operations in a manufacturing environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and coach Laboratory Analysts, Controllers (Chemists and Microbiologists), and Technicians in analytical testing activities.
- Ensure testing, data review, and analysis are carried out safely, accurately, and reliably to support manufacturing operations in accordance with established procedures.
- Ensure laboratory operations comply with EN ISO 13485, current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), JMS Quality Management System (JQMS), and Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
- Oversee daily laboratory operations, troubleshoot issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Supervise laboratory personnel during testing, including equipment troubleshooting, equipment failure handling, and investigation.
- Review analytical test results for raw materials and finished products, monitor trends, and identify potential issues to prevent out-of-specification (OOS) situations.
- Conduct root cause analysis for laboratory failures and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor laboratory inventory to ensure adequate supplies of consumables, chemicals, and reagents.
- Plan, assign, and schedule laboratory manpower to meet operational requirements.
- Establish, review, and approve laboratory standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Train laboratory personnel on equipment operation, testing methods, laboratory controls, and compliance requirements.
- Promote continuous improvement and workplace safety initiatives.
- Coordinate, develop, and maintain Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) projects.
- Support employee performance management and development.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Laboratory Manager.
Job Requirements
- Degree in Science or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant laboratory experience, preferably within the medical device, pharmaceutical, food, chemical, or process manufacturing industries.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience leading laboratory teams is preferred.
- Experience supervising Laboratory Technicians, Analysts, Chemists, and/or Microbiologists will be an advantage.
- Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) is an advantage.
- Good understanding of quality management systems, including ISO 13485, cGMP, and Good Documentation Practices.
- Strong organisational, analytical, and project management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Willing to travel within the Asia-Pacific region when required.
