Personal Support Worker
This Opportunity
We are currently looking to fill 2 Part-Time- Personal Care Attendant roles known internally as Support Service Attendant in our Outreach Attendant Services Program in (Pembroke-Renfrew East Region)
Schedule: Flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, <30 hours per week.
Starting wage: $19.24, with paid travel time and mileage @ .63cent/km. This position is eligible for the $3.00 per hour temporary wage enhancement from the Ontario government for hours spent directly supporting clients.
Hours: up to 30 per week
Duties include the following:
- Assists consumers in their own homes with non-medical activities of daily living in accordance with individual service plans and with March of Dimes Canada policies and procedures:
- Personal care
- Lifts and Transfers
- Rising/retiring
- Bowel and bladder procedures
- Meal preparation and feeding
- Range of motion exercises
- Other light housekeeping duties
- Performs duties in a professional manner, which respects the dignity and right to privacy and maintains consumer and staff health and safety.
March of Dimes Canada provides 24-hour attendant care to its clients. Support Services Attendants work a variety of shifts (i.e., weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays) that vary between locations.
Background / Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation REQUIRED
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain
- Experience working with individuals with physical disabilities, older adults, or as an informal caregiver considered an asset but not required
- Good interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Physical Demands Self Analysis Required upon hire
- Ability to work flexible and regularly scheduled hours
