Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Outpatient Retail Pharmacy Tech Lead, you will work under the supervision of a Pharmacy Manager or other pharmacist, assisting Pharmacy Technicians with daily workload demands and department goals. You will play a crucial role in ensuring efficient outpatient pharmacy operations. Every day, you will assist the Pharmacist in prioritizing medication orders and determining routine daily department needs. You will perform advanced medication order functions including interpretation, preparation, drug distribution, and quality assurance. As the Lead Technician, you will be responsible for all pharmacy technician activities and work schedules, providing direction and guidance to technicians on drug distribution and operational matters. You will actively review technician performance, provide educational opportunities, and ensure annual performance assessments and skill competency training are completed. To be successful in this role, you must be accomplished in performing all technician tasks and functions, and capable of teaching new policies. Your leadership, organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and dedication to technician development will be essential in maintaining high-quality outpatient retail pharmacy services.
- Receives prescriptions from patient and clarifies any needed/required information.
- Ensures that all regulatory requirements of each prescription are met before processing the order.
- Prioritizes prescriptions to be filled in the order of importance and urgency.
- Accurately interprets and enters information from patient prescriptions into the pharmacy computer system.
- Accurately selects the correct drug and dispenses the correct quantity when preparing medication.
- Promptly answers the phone and greets customers in a friendly and courteous manner.
Job Requirements
Required
- High School Diploma/G.E.D.
- National PTCB within six (6) months of hire
- Active Pharmacy Technician License (Kansas), Certification (Colorado) or Provisional Certification (Colorado); Provision Certifications must obtain State Certification within 12 months
Preferred
- Prior retail or hospital outpatient pharmacy technician experience
