Philanthropic Giving Manager
Job Purpose
The Philanthropic Giving Manager will serve as a key frontline fundraiser for the Morgridge Institute for Research (Morgridge). As a member of the Development Team, the Philanthropic Giving Manager will be responsible for building and fostering relationships with individual donors and giving prospects, in pursuit of our mission to serve society through impactful biomedical discoveries and spark curiosity for science in our everyday lives. The primary roles of the Philanthropic Giving Manager will be to establish and grow a mid-level donor portfolio. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the position will play a key role in fundraising activity for the Institute and work closely with Morgridge leadership, investigators and staff to implement development strategies, programs and projects.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain philanthropy-focused relationships with individuals through personal visits, phone calls and meaningful contacts for the purpose of realizing annual and long-term development goals.
- Develop and grow a portfolio to at least 100-125 individual givers or giving prospects with lifetime giving potential to Morgridge of $100,000. It is expected that this will include 12-15 meaningful contacts with people monthly in order to further their relationship with the institute or qualify their philanthropic interest in the Morgridge Institute.
- Solicit annual, major, multi-year, and estate commitments for the Morgridge Institute – primarily by personal visits, but also by utilizing mail, phone, email, and volunteers.
- Travel as needed outside of the Madison region for the purpose of visiting with individual donors or giving prospects in order to achieve fundraising goals.
- Proactively identify and qualify new leads and develop strategies for acquiring and upgrading donors.
- Manage portfolio of contacts, accounts, opportunities, and activities in the Salesforce database.
- Responsible for stewardship of portfolio and work with other team members as needed for support.
- Assist in conception and delivery of development and advancement strategies, programs, goals, processes, and policies.
- Stay informed of current institute research and activities.
- Other miscellaneous duties as required.
