Requirements:
  • 3+ years of commercial experience in PHP development.
  • Strong experience with PHP 7.4, including CakePHP, and PHP 8+ with Laravel or Symfony.
  • Experience building backend systems and APIs.
  • Strong knowledge of MySQL, including query writing and performance optimisation.
  • Working knowledge of JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS.
  • Experience with Git, branching workflows, and pull requests.
  • Familiarity with Docker and Linux or WSL environments.
  • Experience with unit testing and automated testing practices.
  • Understanding of software design principles and coding standards.
  • Exposure to Vue.js, Nuxt, Azure, CI/CD pipelines, messaging technologies, or microservices is beneficial.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain backend systems using PHP, including Laravel and CakePHP.
  • Deliver features end to end, including development, testing, and deployment.
  • Enhance existing applications, including legacy CakePHP systems.
  • Build and maintain APIs and backend services.
  • Write clean, maintainable code following development standards and best practices.
  • Contribute to code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD processes.
  • Support system design, integrations, and technical improvements.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with wider technology teams.
  • Identify opportunities to improve performance, scalability, and reduce technical debt.
