Physical Security Specialist

The position is in the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), Office of Mission Support (OMS). The incumbent reports to the Assistant Director of Emergency Preparedness Division and serves as the Physical Security Specialist and provides consultation in security disciplines including personnel and physical security programs. The incumbent applies a general knowledge of security program interrelationships to coordinate the objectives and implementation of a specialized security program for VBA.

Specific duties include: The Physical Security Specialist applies policy direction and updates to specific operating requirements and develops guidance and instructions for applying security policy, procedures, techniques, equipment, and methods to a variety of work situations and various degrees or levels of security controls. The incumbent develops, implements, and monitors a variety of aspects of multiple security programs including personnel and physical security programs for VBA. The incumbent responds to problems or questions involving implementation of security guidelines. Conducts assessments and inspections to ensure the security of VBA. The Physical Security Specialist communicates security policies and procedures through meetings, written documentation, verbal presentations, and state of the art communications and media.
