DEFINITION:

The Physical Therapy Assistant provides a medically prescribed physical therapy plan of care under the supervision of a Physical Therapist. After the physical therapist has completed the initial evaluation, established functional goals and developed an individualized plan of care, the physical therapist assistant provides preventative instruction and rehabilitation of acute or prolonged dysfunction or pain with an emphasis on movement; therapeutic application or physical and chemical agents; exercise and other procedures to maximize functional independence.

This is a safety sensitive position.
