Physical Therapy - Inpatient Rehab
Summary
Licensed Physical Therapist evaluates and treats adult inpatients, plans individualized rehab programs, and documents progress in a hospital setting.
PRN DAYS
The Physical Therapist is responsible for the administration, interpretation and evaluation of tests and measurements. The PT plans and modifies treatment programs for adult patients with clinical competency, as applicable.
General Functions:
- Interprets physician orders and requests interpretation as necessary
- Administers and interprets tests and measurements of patients
- Reviews patient chart and progress prior to treatment and modifies the treatment plan accordingly
- Develops realistic functional goals based on patient and/or family expectations
- Instructs and involves patient, family, social worker, nursing staff and discharge planner in patient’s progress and discharge plans, participating in appropriate meetings.
- Maintains documentation on all treatments
- Uses appropriate modalities and procedures correctly demonstrating knowledge of indications and contraindications
- Assures appropriate equipment performance prior to each use
- Organizes schedule to reflect patient priorities, needs of other staff, and the department needs and responsibilities
- Provides in-service to staff
- Provides clinical education for PT students
- Utilizes supportive personnel and supervises administration of treatment plans
- Informs supervisor of incidents, accidents, equipment failure or unusual physician or patient
- problems immediately, initiating appropriate action.
- Maintains a working knowledge of routine clerical procedures
- Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively
- Maintains safe environment
- Addresses patient population –specific needs
- Participates in Performance Improvement activities
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Master’s or Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: No previous work experience necessary. After completion of 3 full years/beginning of 4th year may be eligible for Physical Therapist Level II.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Clinical experience in both outpatient and inpatient care, as well as marketing and business familiarity. Spanish Proficiency
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: NEW GRADUATES: Possession of current Texas State license prior to orientation. ALL OTHERS: Possession of current Texas State license.
REQUIRED COURSES/ COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR): Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.
