Systemic Therapy & Immunotherapy Management

  • Directly manage systemic therapy, immunotherapy (e.g., immune checkpoint inhibitors), and targeted therapy for skin cancers, including ordering and prescribing within scope of license, CCD protocols, and the collaboration agreement
  • Confirm eligibility before each treatment cycle by reviewing labs, performance status, and side effects, and hold or adjust treatment per protocol
  • Assess and manage treatment-related side effects and complications, including immune-related adverse events (e.g., colitis, pneumonitis, hepatitis, endocrine and skin toxicities), and escalate serious events to the collaborating physician or emergency care per protocol
  • Coordinate infusion scheduling, prior authorizations, and medication access with the care team
  • Follow CCD safety standards for ordering, handling, and documenting hazardous drugs and high-risk medications

Surveillance & Patient Education

  • Conduct follow-up visits and surveillance for patients with melanoma and other high-risk skin cancers, and keep patients on the correct recall schedule
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, prognosis, expected side effects, prevention, and supportive care, and obtain informed consent for treatment
