Description

Staff Physician (MD / DO)
Reports to: Chief Medical Officer
Salary: $200,000 – $220,000 / year (Full-time, Exempt)

About the Role:

At VCHA our mission is simple: We care so you can be healthy. We are looking for a compassionate, dedicated Staff Physician to join our primary care team and bring high-quality, whole-person healthcare to our local community.

In this role, you will deliver full-spectrum primary care, partner with an interdisciplinary team, and help guide our patient-centered medical home. If you are looking for a practice environment where empathy comes first, your clinical expertise makes a direct difference, and you are truly supported by your peers, we would love to connect with you.

What You’ll Do:
Provide Compassionate Care: Deliver comprehensive primary care to patients across all life stages—taking complete medical histories, diagnosing, managing acute and chronic conditions, and emphasizing preventive health.

Lead with Empathy & Connection: Partner closely with patients, families, consulting physicians, and care teams to ensure coordinated, continuous care—including managing referrals and serving as a trusted clinical resource.

Support & Mentor Clinical Teams: Supervise Nurse Practitioners when applicable, step in to support peer health center sites during provider absences, and potentially serve as Physician in Charge when leadership is offsite.

Drive Quality & Patient-Centered Care: Participate in daily morning huddles, quality assurance efforts, and performance improvement initiatives that uphold our Joint Commission accreditation and PCMH recognition.

Engage the Community: Participate in U.S. Public Health Service health promotion efforts and take part in at least four local community health or outreach initiatives each year.

What You’ll Need:
Credentials & Licensure: Active, unrestricted license to practice medicine (MD or DO) in the Commonwealth of Virginia, graduation from an accredited medical school, and completion of an approved residency program.

Board Certification: Board certified in your primary field (e.g., Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics).

Certifications: Qualified in Basic Life Support (BLS) techniques.

Community Health Heart: A genuine commitment to providing care through an empathetic, understanding lens for underserved populations and a desire to actively support your fellow healthcare team.

This role is part of a broader effort to strengthen access to high-quality primary care across Virginia. Our approach is simple: support providers, build strong care teams, and ensure communities have access to the care they deserve. If this ignites your heart-mission then reach out to our Talent Partner, Tyler, for a 10 minute intro call. 804.750.0456 or tylerbrown@vcha.org
