Discussion

Description

As a Physician supporting international disability examinations, you'll assess medical conditions potentially connected to military service through clinical evaluations, diagnostic testing, and medical record reviews. Your focus will be on examination findings and documentation rather than ongoing patient treatment.

Assignments are offered on an as-needed, independent contractor basis, with no permanent relocation or full-time commitment required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct general medical examinations to assess health status, illnesses, and injuries potentially associated with military service.
  • Review medical histories and records, perform clinical assessments, and order or interpret diagnostic testing as appropriate.
  • Refer individuals for additional specialized evaluations when necessary.
  • Complete Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) and supporting clinical documentation in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate medical records, securely submit examination findings daily, and close assigned cases within 48 hours.
  • Coordinate with clinical leadership to maintain examination quality and adherence to established clinical standards.

Training specific to the VA disability examination process will be arranged.

Requirements

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) with at least one year of post-qualification experience.
  • Current license to practice medicine in the United States, a U.S. territory, or Canada.
  • Experience assessing, diagnosing, and treating adult patients.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records and clinical documentation systems.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound clinical judgment, and communicate effectively with diverse patient populations.
  • Valid U.S. passport or passport from your country of record.
  • Ability to travel internationally for assigned examinations.

Preferred

  • Board certified or board eligible in a medical specialty.
