VA Black Hills Health Care System is seeking a General Surgeon aligned with the Surgery/Specialty Care Service in inpatient and outpatient settings at the Black Hills VA Medical Center.

Be proficient in the placement of central venous and arterial catheters. Responsible for seeing patients in consultation in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Provides care of the Veterans' medical needs by performing examination, surgical consultation, and developing treatment and follow-up plans. Provides ongoing patient and family education throughout the course of treatment. Adheres to policies and procedures regarding the completion of all required orders, operation/procedure notes/reports, discharge summaries, progress notes, clinical reminders, all other required medical documentation, and performance measures in a timely fashion. Ensures the most effective delivery of care while meeting and exceeding compliance, Joint Commission, and VA Central Office performance measure standards. Mentors, trains and provides supervision for mid-levels in all aspects of their duties as required. Performs other directly related duties as required. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm. The candidate will be expected to participate in call schedule after hours and at least one weekend a month and will need to possess the ability to respond promptly in emergent situations.
