This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Incumbent provides medical diagnostic evaluation and initial assessment of patients which includes focused histories, physical examinations, and pertinent laboratory investigations. Facilitates the delivery of appropriate patient care in collaboration with other health professionals, Medical Center staff, and management. Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests necessary to complete required evaluations. Engages in discussions of treatment plans with patients, family members, and other involved parties as appropriate, while following COBRA and HIPAA guidelines. Participates as a peer reviewer when requested. When requested, may be required to act as the Chief, Hematology/Oncology in his/her absence. Provides guidance and support to the nurse practitioners and/or physician assistants assigned to Medical Service. Provides guidance and supervision for the medical students and residents (interns, residents, and/or fellows) as required (if Board Certified). Chairs, participates as an active member, and/or attends medical center committees as assigned by the Chief, Hematology/Oncology, the Chief, Medical Service and/or the Chief of Staff. Participates in facility programs designed to enhance and improve the delivery of patient care services, such as Quality Management; chart reviews; Hematology/Oncology performance measure reviews; Radiation/Oncology contract oversight; Cancer Committee; etc. Completes all required clinical and administrative documentation and training within prescribed guidelines. Supports the Medical Center research mission as required/appropriate. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:45am-4:30pm
