Physician - Hematology Oncology

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program EDRP, a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. The Milwaukee VA Medical Center (MKE VA), in partnership with the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW), is seeking a dedicated and skilled Hematology Oncology Physician who is board certified or board eligible. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic team committed to providing exceptional care to our veterans while also engaging in academic and research activities. This position may involve travel to our Milo C. Huempfner Outpatient Clinic, located in Green Bay, WI. The provider will be stationed at the Milwaukee VA and will have outpatient, fellow supervision, and inpatient work. The provider will work with the Milwaukee VA and Green Bay Hem/Onc teams as well as other services for optimal patient cares. This position could also include direct supervision of patients or nurse practitioners at the Green Bay VA. There could be travel to the Milo C. Huempfner Outpatietn Clinic in Green Bay or accommodations for tele-clinics/virtual clinics to the Green Bay VA. The Milo C. Huempfner Outpatient Clinic is a new 162,000 square foot VA primary care and multi-specialty clinic located in Green Bay. The Milo C. Huempfner VA Outpatient Clinic has a full scope hematology/clinic with outpatient chemotherapy and infusion center. Other onsite staff includes infusion nursing, clinic nurse, advanced practice provider, and a clinical hematology/oncology pharmacist. The Cancer services at the Milwaukee VA include five multidisciplinary tumor boards and a hematopathology conference that are established and conducted multiple times per month. We also conduct clinical trials with the expectation that providers review, open, and enroll on studies Key Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive hematology oncology services, including outpatient and inpatient hem/onc care, inpatient and outpatient consults, e-consults, and chemotherapy guidance/administration. Participate in the education and training of medical students, residents, and fellows in inpatient and outpatient setting. Possible travel to Green Bay, WI outpatient clinic where we have an infusion center, dedicated hem/onc nursing and a dedicated hem/onc nurse practitioner and pharmacist. Engage in clinical research and contribute to the academic mission of the Medical College of Wisconsin. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care. Participate in staff meetings, tumor boards, hospital committees, and peer review process. Demonstrate effective communication both down to staff and up to leadership, to include heads up (for unanticipated or less than ideal patient outcomes). Maintain VA training requirements, through timely completion of documentation and upkeep of credentials required for privileging and re-privileging as per medical staff by-laws. Participation in the FPPE/OPPE process. Maintain board certification or eligibility in Hematology, Oncology, Medicine. The candidate may perform diagnostic procedures such as bone marrow biopsy or IT chemotherapy administration. Maintain VA training requirements, through timely completion of documentation and upkeep of credentials required for privileging and re-privileging as per medical staff by-laws. Participation in the FPPE/OPPE process. Adhere to tour of duties and submit timely requests for leave in current time management system and for clinic cancellations. Demonstrate timely completion of consults, notes, encounters. Adhere to documentation rules and requirements, as well as to clinic and OR procedures for patient scheduling and access. Work Schedule: Variable, position includes inpatient service time at the Milwaukee VA. Typical clinic hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package.
