Physician (Internal Medicine)

About the Position: Serves as attending Physician and Subject Matter Expert in Internal Medicine of a Military TreatmentFacility (MTF)/Medical Centers (MMC) within an assigned Defense Health Agency (DHA)Market/Network Area. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Incumbent provides diagnosis and treatment to active duty and retired military personnel, eligible family members, and civilian personnel presenting with acute episodic or chronic illnesses and complex medical issues.

Refers patients to specialty clinics or other subspecialists for continuation of care. Initiates urgent treatment and hospitalizes patients as required.

Develops and implements coherent treatment strategies; identifies areas of need and conducts functional assessments to determine and implement appropriate services.

Leads and actively contributes to Directorate and MTF quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives to enhance clinical outcomes and operational effectiveness.

Request and utilizes laboratory and clinical findings to support determinations and treatment protocols.

Coordinates referrals to specialty clinics and subspecialists to ensure continuity of care, and initiates urgent interventions including hospitalization when clinically indicated.
