Physician Lead

SUMMARY: In addition to clinical duties, provider will function as supervisory lead for all providers, except for dental and integrative behavioral health, at the Eagle Rock and Westlake North locations. Provider Lead will set the example for the site(s) following policies and procedures through his/her/their work and interaction with staff with care and thought. Provider Lead will conduct reviews of providers, considering clinical acumen, documentation, compliance, and teamwork. Provider Lead will provide clinical insight to quality projects and lead site(s) with the execution of said projects.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support and implement the organization’s vision, mission, and values.
- Serve as local leadership to providers at assigned health center.
- Ensure providers maintain compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Ensure supervisory responsibilities are completed during the administrative time.
- Offer guidance on complex cases and serve as mentor.
- Coaching and counsel providers and administer disciplinary actions as needed.
- Contribute to the success of the health center-triad by collaborating with Operations Manager and Nurse Manager to ensure alignment and consistency within all departments.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives and promote safety in the clinic.
- Provide rounding on all providers consistent with CMO cadence requirements.
- Provide full clinical support for incident/grievance investigations including recommendations and executing corrective/disciplinary actions.
- Lead health center recruitment and selection functions for providers of assigned site(s) and ensures appropriate onboarding integration.
- Consult with medical leadership for guidance and other resources for their expertise, like Information Systems, Human Resources, Electronic Health Record team, and local management.
- Assess bottlenecks and develop/adjust workflows to respond to business needs.
- Determine priorities and method of completing daily workload to ensure that all responsibilities are carried out in a timely manner.
- Participate in quarterly peer reviews and orientation activities as requested.
- Attend appropriate meetings as requested.
- Work appropriate hours to minimize time as well as help to relieve overload situations/assist other providers.
- Perform all job functions in a professional and courteous manner, including but not limited to answering all general queries in a timely fashion.
- Foster and promote a culture of service excellence and accountability.
- Make competent assessments and document with all relevant problems.
- Develop reasonable plans, including treatment, referrals and use of drugs within scope of practice.
- Perform relevant procedures competently with complete documentation (see provider privileges).
- Provide and consistently document relevant education.
- Respond to patient special needs and appropriate requests.
- Work appropriate hours to minimize patient wait time, as well as help to relieve overload situations/assist other providers.
- Act and communicate in a professional manner to reduce friction with patients, providers, and staff.
- Maintain professional appearance in accordance with organizational policies.
- Participate in committees when requested.
- Cooperate in call panels as scheduled.
- Competency of EPIC electronic medical record is required.
- Supervise advanced practitioners/students adequately.
- Use discretion and judgement in handling sensitive or confidential information.
- Comply with organizational policies and procedures.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
