The James J. Peters VA Medical Center is seeking a Physician (Pulmonary & Critical Care) to be an integral part of the Specialty Care Service at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center. The incumbent applicant should possess leadership, energy, compassion, and commitment to serve those who serve our Country.

The Pulmonary and Critical Care Physician provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient specialty care within the James J. Peters VA Medical Center. Responsibilities include: - Provide inpatient ICU care in 12 hour day/night shifts for medical, surgical, and cardiac patients, working with resident teams and a critical care fellow. - Perform and supervise critical care procedures, including central line placement, endotracheal intubation, bronchoscopy (including EBUS), thoracentesis, and chest tube placement. - Lead cardiac arrest and rapid response teams. - Supervise and teach residents and fellows, supporting the academic mission. - Provide outpatient pulmonary care, including clinic management, bronchoscopies, and inpatient pulmonary consultations. - Optional participation in sleep medicine consultations and studies. - Participate in clinical research, quality assurance activities, committee work, and special projects supporting patient care and organizational goals. Key Qualifications and Skills: - Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine. - Active, unrestricted U.S. medical license (any state or territory). - Proficiency in ICU procedures: central venous lines, intubation, bronchoscopy/EBUS, thoracentesis, chest tube insertion. - Experience managing medical, surgical, and cardiac ICU patients. - Ability to lead emergency response teams (code blue, rapid response). - Demonstrated skill in teaching and supervising residents and fellows. - Experience in outpatient pulmonary care and consultative services. - Participation in research, quality improvement, and interdisciplinary committee work. - Strong communication, professionalism, and commitment to veteran-centered care.
