The Central Arkansas VA Healthcare System is seeking a staff physician with pulmonary disease and critical care medical disorders. The incumbent should have a strong interest in critical care, lung cancer, COPD, general pulmonary disease and lung research. Research opportunities are available if desired.
The Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHS) consists of two inpatient campuses located at Little Rock and North Little Rock, Arkansas. Little Rock is the capital city of Arkansas, located in the central part of the state. Little Rock has earned a reputation among history buffs, foodies and art lovers as an exciting place to live. Residents can spend their weekend exploring the historic Arkansas State Capitol, wandering through the Arkansas Art Center or enjoying, the beautiful Ozark Mountains. Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting Specific Pulmonologist and Intensivist Duties: Diagnose, treat, and manage patients with pulmonary diseases according to accepted standards of care. Perform outpatient consultations for pulmonary disease. Provide inpatient consultations for pulmonary disease. Perform invasive procedures for which s/he has been trained and granted privileges. May admit ICU patients, as the primary attending for patients with pulmonary diseases and critical care medicine disorders including management acute respiratory failure requiring mechanically assisted ventilation, management of COVID-19 pneumonia and ARDS, management of sepsis and shock, and others Interpret pulmonary function tests. May participate in Clinical education in the Division of Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine. Administrative Duties: Serve as medical director of the medical ICU. Participate in the educational programs for the ICU unit personnel as well as the medical staff. Participate in monitoring the quality, safety and appropriateness of patient care. Attendance at committee meetings. Participate in developing and updating policies and procedures specific to the ICU. Demonstrate ethical conduct and serve as a positive role model to others at all levels of the organization. Participate in quality assurance programs and chart reviews. Attend Medical Service staff meetings. Complete medical records in accordance with Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff. Participate in Medical Staff committee assignments. Perform other duties assigned by the Chief of Pulmonology and Critical Care. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
