Physician-Radiation Oncology

The Radiation Oncologist at the Orlando VA Healthcare System is responsible for the evaluation and treatment of patients requiring radiotherapy. The duties include, but are not limited to: Conducting medical histories, physical examinations, diagnostic evaluations, and treatment planning. Ability to comprehensively assess patients presenting with cancer and related diseases. Providing advanced radiation therapy to patients, including planning and delivery of radiation treatment. Ability to make informed decisions regarding patient care and develop individualized treatment plans. Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals. Participating in the call rotation with other radiation oncologists. Utilizing tele-medicine services to provide care to patients at Community Based Outpatient Clinics. Advising and counseling patients and their families regarding the implications of treatment, potential side effects, and prognosis. Ordering and interpreting appropriate imaging studies and laboratory tests to guide treatment. Providing ongoing outpatient and inpatient care for a diverse patient population. Prescribing and managing medications related to cancer treatment within the defined scope of practice. Offering education and support to patients, families, and healthcare team members.
