Summary
Provide inpatient/outpatient urology care, perform cystoscopies and surgeries, and collaborate with hospital departments while teaching medical students and residents.
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Schedule will be determined by supervisor. Maintain a high degree of excellence in clinical outcomes while providing efficient patient care throughout. Maintain professional competency, courtesy, and flexibility and provide the necessary services of this specialty. Attend and participate in outpatient clinics and take an active role in the evaluation of the patient, decision for treatment, care, and complete timely documentation in the patient electronic records. Collaborative patient management along with the other departments and sections of the hospital including, but not limited to, laboratory, medicine, radiology, and the auxiliary services. Evaluate and treat Urology emergencies in the Emergency Department, Outpatient clinic, Inpatient ward, ICU, and the Operating Room. Attend all meeting required by the organization and the Surgery Service in particular. Proficient in General Urology with the ability to perform Cystoscopy procedures and basic to intermediate surgical complexity Urologic cases (open and minimally invasive). Participation in the teaching programs of the University of Nevada School of Medicine. Provide educational opportunities for students of medicine, residents, nursing, pharmacy, and others. Provide training and/or direction as applicable to supporting employees (e.g. RNs, LPNs, technicians, administrative support staff) assigned to the unit during the performance of duties.
