About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced Data Integration & Power BI Engineer to lead the development of a business-critical operational reporting solution. This engagement will focus on establishing new data architecture within OSIsoft PI (AVEVA PI System), integrating multiple enterprise data sources, and designing high-impact Power BI dashboards that improve operational visibility, reporting, and decision-making.

This is an exciting opportunity for a specialist who can combine strong technical expertise with stakeholder engagement skills to deliver a robust and scalable reporting platform.

Scope of Work

The objective of this engagement is to help establish new data architecture within OSIsoft PI, integrate new data sources and design, develop, test, and deploy Power BI dashboards. Dashboards will integrate data from multiple sources, including PI System data and SQL databases, to provide accurate, reliable, and user-friendly reporting for client stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide a suitably qualified and experienced resource to:

  • Work with client technical staff to establish and implement new Pi repositories
  • Review and understand existing data sources and reporting requirements.
  • Engage with nominated TGen stakeholders to confirm dashboard requirements, measures, calculations, and visualisation needs.
  • Extract, transform, and validate data from SQL databases and PI System data sources.
  • Develop data models and reporting datasets suitable for Power BI.
  • Design and build a Power BI dashboard incorporating agreed metrics, KPIs, trends, and visualisations.
  • Configure automated data refreshes and ensure data integrity.
  • Undertake testing and validation of dashboard outputs.
  • Resolve defects or issues identified during testing.
  • Provide knowledge transfer and documentation sufficient to support ongoing use and maintenance of the dashboard.
  • Provide post-deployment support for an agreed period to address any defects or issues directly associated with the delivered solution.

Mandatory Skills and Experience

  • SQL development and database querying experience.
  • Advanced Power BI development, data modelling, DAX, and dashboard design capabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience working with OSIsoft PI System (or AVEVA PI System), including data extraction, integration, and reporting.
  • Experience delivering business intelligence and reporting solutions in industrial, operational technology (OT), utilities, power generation, or similar environments.
  • Ability to work independently and remotely while maintaining regular communication with stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

This project is considered business-critical and must be completed within a strict timeframe. The successful candidate must:

  • Demonstrate availability to commence work immediately upon award.
  • Allocate sufficient resources and suitably qualified personnel to achieve the required delivery schedule. Preference is given to a single resource to conduct all works.
  • Establish system setup and configuration, deliver operational dashboards and all associated project deliverables within the six-month implementation period.
  • Establish regular progress reporting to ensure delivery remains on schedule.
  • Identify any risks that may impact delivery and provide appropriate mitigation measures to minimise schedule impacts.

Application Closes: Friday, 11 September 2026, 10:00 AM ACST.
