Piping and Steel Fabrication Superintendent in Youngstown

Job DescriptionJob Description

An Ohio-based mechanical and piping contractor that builds field projects for the petroleum, natural gas and fuel system industries is hiring a Piping and Steel Fabrication Superintendent.

The work: you run piping and steel fabrication crews on active job sites. This role is on the road. You are on site about 80 percent of the time and traveling for much of the rest. The schedule is four 10-hour days, Monday through Thursday, so you are home Friday through Sunday. The work is heavy mechanical with a real civil side: digging, grading, getting to grade, and following civil details alongside the mechanical ones. The company does no electrical work.

What you will do:

- Lead piping and steel fabrication crews in the field

- Own schedule, quality and safety for pipe fabrication and installation

- Build from isometrics and blueprints, and follow both mechanical and civil details

- Work with project management and the customer's site team

What you need:

- Experience supervising a piping or fabrication crew as a superintendent, general foreman, foreman or lead

- A strong hands-on piping background. Refinery, tank farm, bulk petroleum, pipeline, gathering system, compressor station, chemical plant, paper mill and cryogenic plant work all count.

- Code process piping: ASME B31.1 or B31.3, pipe spools, isometrics, x-rayed welds, flange make-up

- Strong math and mechanical skills

- Willing to travel and work away from home Monday through Thursday

- Able to pass a background check and a drug and alcohol test, including THC

A plus:

- A pipefitter or pipe welder by trade who moved up into supervision

- Civil or earthwork experience

- Fuel system project experience

Pay: $46 to $51 per hour, based on experience. Full time, direct hire.
