Position Summary
BGE, Inc. is seeking a PLA Project Manager to help lead planning and landscape architecture projects from early concept and entitlements through design, permitting, and construction administration. Job Responsibilities:
- Manages Planning/Landscape Architecture projects from concept and entitlement support through design development, construction documents, permitting and construction administration
- Works with department leadership, clients and internal teams to develop practical, context-sensitive planning and design solutions
- Leads preparation of site plans, concept plans, illustrative graphics, planting plans, hardscape plans, grading concepts, construction documents, specifications and cost estimates
- Reviews entitlement-related submittals, including zoning, comprehensive plan amendments, rezoning, annexation, site plans and other jurisdictional requirements
- Manages project scopes, schedules, budgets, deliverables, staffing needs and project documentation
- Coordinates with clients, municipalities, planning and zoning boards, architects, engineers, contractors, subconsultants and other project stakeholders
- Leads multidisciplinary project teams and reviews deliverables for quality, constructability, code compliance, permitting requirements and alignment with client goals
- Conducts site analysis, field observations and construction observation to support successful project delivery
- Prepares presentations, reports, exhibits and graphics for clients, stakeholders, public meetings and jurisdictional review processes
- Supports business development, proposal preparation, client relationship management and project pursuit strategy
- Mentors junior planning and landscape architecture staff and provides technical guidance and quality control support
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture, Urban Planning, Planning/Landscape Architecture or a related field from an accredited university
- 6+ years of professional experience in landscape architecture, planning/design, land development, parks, streetscapes, trails, mixed-use, master planning or related project types
- Project management experience with responsibility for scopes, schedules, budgets, deliverables, staffing coordination and client communication
- Experience leading projects from conceptual design through construction documentation, permitting and construction administration
- Strong technical understanding of site planning, planting design, hardscape design, grading, drainage coordination, construction detailing and entitlement processes
- Working knowledge of zoning, land development codes, permitting processes, public review procedures and environmental regulations
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite required; experience with Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Lumion, GIS, InDesign, Civil 3D or other design/visualization tools preferred
- Ability to manage subconsultants, coordinate multidisciplinary teams and maintain accountability for project quality and profitability
- Strong organizational, leadership, problem-solving, client management, presentation and communication skills
- Ability to mentor junior staff and contribute to a collaborative, positive team environment
