Planner
Summary
Manufacturing planner in Fort Wayne creates and maintains production schedules, tracks inventory, and ensures on-time delivery using ERP systems like J.D. Edwards and Excel.
JOB DUTIES:
- Create and maintain production and delivery schedules for assigned value stream to maximize on-time delivery and production efficiencies (labor, machine, equipment).
- Reschedule and prioritize shop completion dates as required.
- Prepare work order packets for production.
- Track machine utilization as needed
- Assist with cycle and inventory counts.
- Ensure accuracy of system transactions in J.D. Edwards.
- Prepare and maintain progress reports for value stream (KPI, capacity, etc.).
- Work with managers and other planners to coordinate operation activities between value streams.
- Work with Purchasing to ensure raw material and purchased parts requirements are met.
- Participate in weekly planning meetings to review capacity constraints and labor needs.
- Participate in or potentially lead Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned.
COMPETENCIES
- Clear understanding of On Time Delivery (OTD) forecasting and scheduling of material requirements. (Business Strategy)
- Proficient use of Excel Workbooks in order to manage work order data and to provide tools and resources for effective scheduling. (Business Strategy)
Required Education and/OR Experience
- Two year degree or equivalent experience in manufacturing processes.
Preferred Education and/or Experience
- Experience with J.D. Edwards ERP a plus.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Knowledge of supplies, equipment and outside production services, as well as inventory control of these items.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong computer skills.
- Proficient in M.S. Office.
- Lean Manufacturing knowledge a plus.
