Planning Engineer
Summary
Planning Engineer creates and maintains construction project schedules using tools like Primavera P6 and MS Project, tracks progress, and coordinates with teams to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
Project Planning:
Develop and manage detailed project schedules using Primavera P6, MS Project, or other scheduling tools.
Create comprehensive work breakdown structures (WBS) and define project milestones, deliverables, and timelines.
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure the project schedule aligns with the overall project goals and objectives.
Provide expert guidance on the scheduling of complex tasks, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
Monitoring and Control:
Track project progress and ensure that timelines are met. Adjust schedules as necessary to reflect changes in project scope, resources, or unforeseen delays.
Prepare and submit regular progress reports to project managers and senior stakeholders, highlighting any deviations from the schedule and recommending corrective actions.
Conduct risk analysis to identify potential scheduling conflicts or delays and proactively resolve issues.
Coordination and Support:
Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other team members to gather data for scheduling updates.
Support the senior planning engineer in organizing and attending project meetings to discuss schedule-related concerns.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience in construction planning or project management, preferably in large-scale construction projects.
- Proficiency in project management and scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project, etc.).
- Strong understanding of construction processes, phases, and methodologies.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
