Plant Manager
Job Summary
The Plant Manager is responsible for the overall management of A~Star Plastics' manufacturing operations, including Production, Maintenance, Engineering, Warehouse, Quality, Safety, and Continuous Improvement. The role ensures the plant operates safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively while meeting production targets, quality standards, customer requirements, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Plant Operations
- Lead and oversee daily manufacturing operations to achieve production, quality, safety, and delivery targets.
- Develop and implement operational strategies to improve productivity, efficiency, and profitability.
- Monitor plant KPIs and take corrective actions to address operational issues.
- Ensure effective utilization of manpower, equipment, materials, and utilities.
Production & Maintenance
- Manage plastic recycling, compounding, extrusion, packing, and warehouse operations.
- Improve production efficiency, equipment reliability, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Oversee preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, equipment upgrades, and automation projects.
- Drive waste reduction, cost savings, and continuous process improvements.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, WSH, and environmental regulations.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
- Promote a strong safety culture, 5S, and good manufacturing practices.
Inventory & Cost Management
- Manage production planning, inventory levels, and logistics to support customer requirements.
- Prepare and control operational budgets, labour costs, maintenance expenditure, and capital projects.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity while reducing manufacturing costs.
Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop managers, supervisors, and production teams.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, auditors, certification bodies, and government agencies when required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of manufacturing experience, including 5 years in a Plant Manager or senior operations management role.
- Experience in plastics recycling, polymer compounding, extrusion, plastic manufacturing, or related process industries is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations, plant maintenance, Lean Manufacturing, quality systems, and Workplace Safety & Health regulations.
- Proven leadership, problem-solving, communication, and people management skills.
- Experience leading teams of 25 or more employees is an advantage.
