Plant Manager
POSITION PURPOSE
This position directs and manages plant operations with overall responsibilities for production, maintenance, quality, staffing, safety and other production related activities. The Plant Manager is expected to promote and successfully implement Metromont’s philosophy of SQSC (Safety, Quality, Schedule, Cost).
RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee daily production operations to assure performance in accordance with Metromont’s expectations for Safety, Quality, Schedule, and Cost.
Coordinates with other departments to establish production schedules which meet customer’s demands and optimize production capabilities.
Manage departmental budgets and actual production performance versus cost estimates. Implement corrective actions when necessary to perform within budget and/or estimate.
Maintain assets in good working condition through effective maintenance programs.
Assure product quality meets customers’ specifications and achieves timely delivery to meet project schedules.
Establish a culture of continuous improvement with a focus towards ongoing productivity improvements.
Assess performance of plant staff and provide direction for training and development.
Assure compliance with all applicable OSHA, EPA and other regulatory requirements related to plant operations and the plant site.
Develop plant capital investment plans in collaboration with plant staff and the General Manager.
SCOPE OF AUTHORITY
Responsible for all activities at Metromont’s Plant Site
Works independently under the direction of the General Manager
Has authority to establish performance expectations, determine staffing levels, and hire and terminate associates.
CHARACTERISTICS (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
5-10 years’ experience in a management position within a precast/prestress concrete production facility
Self motivated with strong relationship management and organizational abilities.
Demonstrates a working knowledge of precast production processes, challenges involved with them, and the troubleshooting skill required to handle issues that arise.
Able to clearly and concisely communicate facts and details while also being able to utilize those facts and details to problem solve.
Adept at handling constant change and variety in work performance expectations.
Understands delegation and how to use delegation to promote growth and development of the plant staff.
Creative, results oriented and constantly seeking new and better ways to perform work.
Promotes leadership through respect, integrity, personal accountability, and inspiration of others to perform their best.
Above average organizational skill
Assertive with significantly above average problem solving and analytical abilities.
EDUCATION AND TECHNOLOGY
BS/BA degree or equivalent in a technically oriented field is preferred.
In lieu of a BS/BA degree, 10-15 years of experience in precast/prestressed production management.
Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office.
WORK ENVIRONMENT / SCHEDULE
Open air plant environment, may be exposed to changing weather and temperature conditions
Hours are dependent on plant activities and production needs
